Arknights: Endfield is an open-world RPG with gacha and strategy elements and team-based combat. It feels really unique in its gameplay, storytelling, and world. It’s a fresh take on the gacha genre and on what these games can potentially be. Gameplay-wise, Endfield is smooth and fun. Traversing environments feels good. Exploration is rewarded, and there’s enough to do that it doesn’t just feel like a daily chore loop. When you log in, you have options. Factory optimization, exploration, world activities, it can be overwhelming but it’s engaging. The environment is expansive. Cities, hubs, hidden investigations, collectibles that matter, small crises in the field, puzzles that make you gather materials or craft things to move forward. It’s layered. The world isn’t there just to look good; it gives you reasons to poke around. Combat is team-based and strategic. It’s not just big flashy effects. There’s variety in attack patterns and team synergies, and characters feel distinct, even within the same weapon type. Building a team matters, and the strategy makes that fun. Progression feels fair. Even without landing limited units, which I haven’t, the standard teams are capable and satisfying to use. Leveling and skill growth don’t feel like constant roadblocks. As for playability, yes, it’s easy to sink hours into. Movement is convenient with teleports and ziplines. The AIC factory system is deep enough that you can experiment, though you can look up guides if you want. But figuring it out yourself feels more rewarding. The shader issue is annoying, but more of a technical hiccup than a dealbreaker. The gacha system is still a downside. Rewards feel okay so far. I was able to guarantee an early character, but long-term generosity is still unclear. Not having to stress over 50/50 losses is a relief, but the business model is the business model. Overall, it’s fun and engaging with strong combat and a world worth exploring. For now, my hot review score is 8 out of 10. I’ll revisit once I’ve had more time with endgame and future patches.
